NAIROBI NEWS NOVEMBER 8, 1919: A SUICIDE CASE – PART 1
NOTE: The Serpent’s Daughter is NOW AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK!
Nairobi was shocked to learn that a European man had committed suicide in his room at the New Stanley Hotel in Nairobi. The man was discovered when a native servant asked for help because “his bwana” was staggering around the apartment, bleeding from gaping wounds. The man had only arrived in Nairobi recently from South Africa. One man that had spoken with him said the deceased claimed to be tired of life. He was known to be an ex-soldier with twenty years of faithful service.
When the deceased first arrived, he was seen to enter the hotel bar and claim to have been poisoned, spitting on the floor as evidence. The patrons advised him to go to bed. The next day, he had no recollection of the incident and a doctor informed him that he was “sound” and that exercise is all he needed. In fact, the deceased was to go on safari soon.
NEXT WEEK: MORE ON THE SUICIDE CASE
NOTE: These blogs are meant to give some insight into the life and times of my fictional character, Jade del Cameron. Jade’s mystery adventures take place in post WWI Africa. To date they are: Mark of the Lion, Stalking Ivory, and The Serpent’s Daughter.
NOW AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK. The fourth book The Leopard’s Prey, will be available in hardcover January 2009. For more information, visit the website: www.suzannearruda.com
